Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel will pay an official visit to China from June 11 to 14 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

The following are some facts about Bettel.

Bettel was born on March 3, 1973 in Luxembourg City. He has obtained a master's degree in Public and European Law and a DEA in Political Science and Public Law from Nancy 2 University in Nancy, France.

He joined the Democratic Party of Luxembourg in 1988, and has served as member of the Chamber of Deputies, member of the Luxembourg City communal council and leader of the Democratic Party.

In 2011, Bettel was elected as mayor of Luxembourg City, becoming the youngest mayor in the history of the city. Since December 2013, he has served as prime minister, as well as minister of state, minister for communications and the media and minister of worship.
