Pakistan's National Flag was flown at full mast in a flag hoisting ceremony to mark the 72nd Independence Day of Pakistan at the Embassy of Pakistan, Beijing on Aug. 14, 2018.

The event was celebrated with patriotic fervor and the valiant founding fathers of the nation were remembered. Homage was paid to all those who sacrificed during the independence struggle particularly Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, whose vision materialized in the shape of an independent homeland for Muslims of South Asia.

The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. The national flag was then raised by the Ambassador to the sound of the national anthem, evoking patriotic passion. The messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were also read out by the ambassador.

The President in his message said, "National days are celebrated with the purpose of educating society, particularly the new generation about the objective and the struggle for the attainment of Pakistan. I believe that the objective of developing the country and rekindling its glorious past can only be achieved if we work single mindedly keeping aside our personal interests.

The Prime Minister in his message said, "Our beautiful country is blessed with every gift of the nature. From an ideal geo-strategic location to the most talented and progressive youth, we have all the ingredients to carve out our own destiny and rise as a successful nation of the world. Unswerving commitment to the ideals of the Quaid and following the principle of 'Unity, Faith and Discipline' would certainly help us overcome our present-day challenges and make Pakistan a self-reliant, economically vibrant and a prosperous country."

Ambassador Masood Khalid, while addressing the Pakistani community, congratulated them on the auspicious occasion and urged them to take pride in being citizens of an independent nation. He also mentioned that Pakistan has recently successfully completed the political transition. He highlighted the significance of Pakistan-China ties which have grown from strength to strength. Ambassador heralded China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as a beacon of prosperity and shared future.

National songs were performed by the Pakistani children and a cake was cut on this occasion.
