An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck northwestern Turkey on Wednesday evening, the authorities said.
The tremor occurred at 21:23 local time (1823 GMT) in the Ayvacik district of the Canakkale province, the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency said in a statement.
The Istanbul-based Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute revised the magnitude to 5.4.
Canakkale Mayor Ulgur Gokhan said no building collapse was detected in the city center in the wake of the earthquake that lasted 46 seconds.
The Turkish Red Crescent has sent teams to the affected area, Kerem Kinik, head of the aid agency, said on his Twitter account.
The tremor was felt as well in the cities of Izmir and Istanbul.
