A total of five people were killed and two more were injured in two related shootings which happened overnight in northwestern Wisconsin, local authorities said on Monday.
The shootings took place at two separate homes in Chippewa County, about 280 kilometers northwest of Madison, the state capital.
County sheriff James Kowalczyk told local television that officers found on Sunday night two people dead at the first location. Two others with gunshot wounds were rushed to a local hospital.
When officers went to another neighborhood Monday morning to contact the family members of one of the deceased, they found three more people were killed in a second house.
The shooter, who is among the five killed, is suspected in both homicides but local authorities would not give further details as the investigation is underway.
