Global COVID-19 cases top 8M: WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday that more than 8 million confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported to the organization globally.

The latest WHO data showed that as of 15:13 CEST (1313 GMT) Wednesday, there had been 8,061,550 confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide, including 440,290 deaths.

The U.S. had suffered the most in terms of numbers, with 2,098,106 confirmed cases and 115,980 deaths, followed by Brazil with 888,271 confirmed cases and 43,959 deaths.

Continuing along the list of total confirmed infections were Russia, with 553,301 cases, India, with 354,065 cases, and the UK, with 298,140 cases.

For the deaths, following U.S. and Brazil, the pandemic had claimed 41,969 lives in the UK, 34,405 in Italy, and 29,481 in France.
