Africa's confirmed COVID-19 cases close to 1.3M: Africa CDC

The number of confirmed COVID-19 positive cases across the African continent surpassed 1,299,389, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said Monday.

The continental disease control and prevention agency in a statement issued late Monday stressed that the death toll related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic rose to 31,283 so far.

The Africa CDC said that some 1,038,256 people who had been infected with COVID-19 have recovered across the continent as of late Monday.

The most affected African countries in terms of the number of positive cases include South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Ethiopia and Nigeria, according to the Africa CDC.
