At least one person was killed and two others injured when a small plane crashed at the Pampulha Airport in the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, capital of the southeastern state of Minas Gerais, local firefighters said on Tuesday.
The crash occurred at about 2:00 p.m. local time (1700 GMT), as the Learjet Model 35 plane was trying to land and its landing gear would not open. The plane went off the runway, but stayed within the airport limits.
The Minas Gerais Fire Department reported that the plane was carrying two pilots, who were trapped inside the cabin, and a third person.
The aircraft was manufactured in 1976 and had a capacity for eight people.
