Moscow and the whole international community have reasons to worry about U.S. military biological labs' operations near Russia, deputy chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Fedorov has said.
The concern is caused by the "uncontrolled and unrestricted expansion of foreign biological infrastructure belonging to the U.S. military" near Russian borders, Fedorov was quoted by Sputnik news agency as saying Monday.
In May, first deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council Yuri Averyanov also voiced concern over U.S. and NATO military biological programs adjacent to Russia.
He noted that the deadly microorganisms created or studied at these facilities could "accidentally" be released into the environment, potentially causing mass casualties among civilians.
