At least two people were killed on Wednesday when a helicopter fighting a forest fire crashed in the town of Alumine, in western Argentina's Neuquen province, emergency brigades confirmed.
According to the report, the aircraft's pilot and mechanic, who worked for the Chilean company Helicopteros del Pacifico, died in the accident, which occurred in the vicinity of Lake Quillen on the border with Chile.
The Transportation Safety Board said via Twitter the Bell 412 helicopter crashed at about 11:15 a.m. local time, about 64 km north of the Chapelco airfield in Neuquen.
The causes of the accident are under investigation.
Forest fires have razed some 4,000 hectares of native forest in the area, according to official estimates.
