The UAE's embassy in China and the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology hosted a virtual tour on agricultural technology, inviting policymakers and industry experts from China and the UAE to explore new avenues for bilateral cooperation in this crucial field.

The event opened with keynote addresses from Dr. Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, UAE ambassador to China, and Wei Zhenglin, deputy director general from the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China (MARA).

Wei introduced MARA's most recent work in promoting sustainable agriculture at home and abroad through a series of important international exchange programs.

Ambassador Al Dhaheri highlighted a raft of innovative steps the UAE has taken in recent years to develop and nurture an agricultural industry that strives for sustainability and abundance.

"The UAE has launched numerous policies to adopt sustainable and climate-smart agricultural methods that focus on the optimal utilization of cultivated land, thereby enhancing the quality and competitiveness of agricultural produce," said the ambassador.

Key stakeholders from the scientific and business communities jointed the virtual tour.

Sun Fajun, deputy director general of the Department of Science, Technology and Education of MARA, spoke about the latest innovative developments within China's agricultural sector.

The event was part of the initiative, the Sci-Tech Virtual Tours, of the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology launched last year as a forum for high-level decision-makers and experts to address the challenges and opportunities of the changing planet through the help of scientific innovation. Since its inauguration, the program has brought together policymakers, business leaders and distinguished scientists worldwide.
