Lin recalled the long history of friendly exchanges between the two countries in his opening speech. "For centuries, the two sides have carried out frequent exchanges in areas such as commerce, medicine, and architecture, while the two peoples have learned from each other and made progress together," Lin said.

Lin also highlighted the essential role of Aliyev in promoting bilateral relations between the two countries. "Heydar Aliyev paid a successful state visit to China shortly after taking office as the President of Azerbaijan, and made enormous efforts and historic contributions to promoting the sustained and healthy development of China-Azerbaijan relations," Lin said.

Anar Alakbarov, assistant to the president of Azerbaijan and executive director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, delivered a speech at the ceremony as well.

Alakbarov reiterated the great contribution made by Aliyev in promoting the sound relations between China and Azerbaijan. "Being a good friend of Chinese people, Heydar Aliyev attached great importance and made significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations," Alakbarov said.

He also emphasized that Aliyev's diplomatic wisdom with China has been successfully continued by Ilham Aliyev, the incumbent president of Azerbaijan.

"In light of the developing and strong friendly relations with the CPAFFC, we decided to present the travelling exhibition and concert here in China as the first destination," Alakbarov added.

An exhibition consisting of a series of monumental photos and videos of the national leader was held at the event.
