At least six people were killed, and more than 40 others wounded on Thursday in Israeli airstrikes on the Yemeni capital Sanaa and the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, the Houthi-run health authorities said in a statement.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement aired by the Houthi-run al-Masirah TV, the group vowed to respond to the Israeli assaults, saying it "will launch retaliatory long-range rocket attacks against Israeli cities."
Earlier in the day, the Israeli military said it had launched "intelligence-based" airstrikes targeting Houthi-controlled military targets on Yemen's western coast and inland Yemen.
The Israeli warplanes hit Houthi-used infrastructures in the Sanaa International Airport, and the Hezyaz and Ras Kanatib power stations, both located in Houthi-controlled areas, as well as the ports of Hodeidah, Salif, and Ras Kanatib on the western coast, the military said in a statement, claiming that those sites were used by Houthis to smuggle Iranian weapons into the region and for the entry of senior Iranian officials.
The statement released by Houthi-run health authorities did not provide further details on the casualties.
Al-Masirah TV reported earlier in the day that the Israeli attack on the Sanaa International Airport had killed three people and wounded 16 others.
The Israeli airstrike on the port of Hodeidah, which hit the Ras Isa oil terminal, meanwhile, killed one person, and three others remain missing, the TV added.
The Israeli airstrikes came a day after Houthis launched multiple long-range rocket and drone attacks on the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Ashkelon.
The Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, have been launching regular rocket and drone attacks against Israel and disrupting "Israeli-linked" shipping in the Red Sea since November 2023 to show solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza amid their conflict with Israelis.
