Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said two members of its Basij voluntary force were killed Saturday in a "terrorist" attack in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.
The two victims, identified as Sadeq Mahmoudi and Milad Damankesh, were attacked and killed by "terrorists" in Saravan County as they were en route from work to their homes in their personal car, the IRGC reported through its official news outlet Sepah News, without specifying the assailants' affiliation.
Bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan, Sistan and Baluchestan province has witnessed several "terrorist" attacks on both civilians and security forces in recent years.
According to a report by the official news agency IRNA, Iran's Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib said Friday that "imported agents" from outside the region are behind the "terrorist" operations in Sistan-Baluchestan, with an attempt to fuel insecurity in the province.
