Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday that the sweeping new tariffs imposed by the United States on almost all nations plunged the global trade system into a highly challenging situation.
"The consequences will be global in scale," Medvedev wrote on Telegram, adding that "old trade chains will be broken, but new ones will emerge."
"We will impose reciprocal tariffs on goods from the United States," Medvedev said.
He also said that Russia has maintained robust development despite sanctions imposed by the United States and Europe over the Ukraine crisis.
"Russia's economy will grow by 3 percent in the first quarter of 2025," Medvedev said.
