LONDON, July 30 (Xinhua) -- China's Olympic champion Sun Yang and his long-time rival Park Tae Hwan shared silver medals at an enticing 200m freestyle race at London Olympics on Monday, while French superstar Yannick Agnel took the gold to add to his gold spree.
Agnel led the way in a sizzling 1:43.14, while Sun and Park tied in 1:44.93 to finish both as silver medallists.
Sun, just crowned an Olympic title two days before in the 400m freestyle, was sluggish off the starting block, trailing Agnel, Park and U.S. Olympic champion Ryan Lochte in the first half of the race. He was fourth-placed after the third turn, when Park was the second fastest along the way.
Sun launched a devastating burst and narrowed his gap with Park, finally catching up with him to take a silver.
Lochte, winner of the gruelling 400m individual medley, fell out of the podium as the fourth.
Sun was the first male Chinese swimmer to claim an Olympic gold. Enditem
