Sony logs 24.64 billion yen group net loss in Q2

TOKYO, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Sony Corp. said Thursday its group net loss in the second quarter of this year increased to 24.64 billion yen from 15.50 billion yen a year earlier due to the strengthening yen and increasing costs of restructuring.

The company reported that its group operating profit fell 77.2 percent to 6.28 billion yen, but sales was up 1.4 percent to 1.52 trillion yen.

Sony revised down its earnings projection to 20 billion yen on sales of 6.8 trillion yen versus an earlier estimated 30 billion yen on sales of 7.4 trillion yen, for the whole fiscal year through March 2013 as it lowered its sales outlook mainly due to an economic slowdown, it said. Enditem
