BAKU, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed Friday in a road accident in Azerbaijan's western region of Gadabay, the country's Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
The accident occurred when the car, traveling at high speed, crashed into a concrete roadside pillar near a village in the region, which borders Armenia, and burst into flames. Both the driver and the passenger died at the scene, according to the ministry.
Authorities have launched investigation into the accident.
Car accidents have become common in Azerbaijan due to the rising number of vehicles and careless driving culture in the country, resulting in heavy casualties. Enditem
