VIENNA, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Revenues of the Austrian construction materials decline 1.22 percent in the first half of 2012, the APA reported Tuesday.
The civil engineering industry is lagging the furthest behind, with declining investment in infrastructure such as road construction and regional projects putting pressure on materials suppliers.
The decline was most evident in the ready-mix concrete industry with an 8.61 percent drop and the cement industry with a 5.51 percent drop.
Andreas Pfeiler, managing director of the Austrian Association for Building Materials and Ceramic Industries, said he hoped the industry would return to a "break even" level by the end of 2012.
While maintaining hope for future growth, he said a growth target of 2 percent by year's end would be unlikely. Enditem
