One million people marooned by flood in Indian state Assam
KOLKATA, India, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Around one million people in India's north east state of Assam have been marooned due to flood which submerged 16 districts, police said over telephone Monday from state capital Guwahati.
More than 1,500 villages are under water and till date eight persons have died.
The Assam government has opened 169 relief camps in which 150, 000 refugees are staying. Enditem
