Explosions at chemical plant in western Japan kill one
OSAKA, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Explosions at a chemical factory in Hyogo Prefecture of western Japan, killed one people and injured dozens of others on Saturday afternoon, local press reported.
The explosions occurred as firefighters were trying to control a fire that broke out at Nippon Shokubai Co.'s plant in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture at around 2:05 p.m. local time. A 28-year-old firefighter died of burns all over his body, while more than 30 others were injured. Among the injuried, several sustained serious injuries.
The first explosion occurred at around 2:40 p.m. at a tank for manufacturing acrylic acid, and was followed by another blast shortly afterward, according to the report. Enditem
