BEIJING, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka dropped her first service game but answered with a 12-game winning streak to beat Frenchwoman Alize Cornet 6-1, 6-0 for a berth in the second round of the China Open here on Monday.

The Belarussian seemed to be provoked when she lost her first game of the opening set, needing just one hour to wrap up the next 12 games before defeating her much lower ranked opponent.

Azarenka, who claimed her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open this season, will take on German Sabine Lisicki in the next round, who overcame a second set slump to beat Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-3, 5-7, 6-2. Enditem
