Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Wednesday congratulated his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama who had been re-elected for a second term, the official APS news agency reported.

Quoting a message sent by Bouteflika to Obama, the APS said " the trust that the American people have renewed on you affords me the opportunity to address you, in my name and on behalf of the Algerian people and government, my warmest congratulations, and my best wishes for success and continuity of your mission in the service of the American people."

"It's an opportunity to express my entire commitment to reinforce the successful and promising relations existing between Algeria and United States, and boost our strategic dialogue in a bid to consolidate our cooperation in all domains," said Bouteflika.

Obama won the U.S. presidential election Tuesday against his Republican rival Mitt Romney. Endi
