Azeri president congratulates Obama on re-election

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday sent a letter of congratulations to Barack Obama on his re-election as U.S. president, according to a press release posted on the president's website.

The congratulatory message reads, "Your victory in the elections is a real expression of friendly American people's belief and confidence in You and support for Your internal and external policy."

In the letter, President Aliyev said that sincere friendship and mutual cooperation in all spheres unite Azerbaijan and the United States.

"Our joint participation in ensuring the energy security in the world, fighting against international terrorism and achieving peace and stability in conflict zones has brought our relations to the level of strategic partnership," the message says.

"I believe that strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States, based on mutual interests and common values, will further develop and strengthen and our countries will successfully continue the close cooperation in terms of international security, economic development and democratic reforms," President Aliyev said..
