WEF Summit on the Global Agenda inaugurated

Professor Klaus Schwab, founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), inaugurated here Monday the three-day Summit on the Global Agenda, calling participants to work together in tackling the future world economic challenges.

Schwab said in a speech that this Summit on the Global Agenda, which runs in its 5th edition, is the largest ever, gathering 1, 000 decision makers from the public and private sectors from 80 countries, convening 88 WEF Global Agenda Councils.

Schwab said the world was facing "enormous challenges" and that removing hurdles for more global economic growth, increasing institutional transparency and governance, upgrading green energy and sustainability as well as the fast progress in technology and stem-cell research are the key topics of the future and will be discussed at the forum.

The inauguration was attended by United Arab Emirates (UAE) Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and some members of the UAE government.

The three-day WEF Summit on the Global Agenda will discuss and design the key topics which will be on the agenda for the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos of Switzerland, held from January 23-27, under the topic "resilient dynamism." Endi
