Russia has called for more urgency in setting up a new round of nuclear talks between Iran and international mediators.

The general rhetoric in supporting another round of talks reached no concrete progress, and Moscow was disappointed by the lack of progress in preparing for future negotiations, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters Friday.

"It is necessary to find the 'windows' in the working schedules of leaders and political directors and to coordinate them," he said.

"The talks cannot be held through giving interviews to mass media. We need to gather and study the documents," he said.

Iran and the P5+1 group, the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council plus Germany, failed to reach agreement during their intensive talks in Moscow in June.

Ryabkov reiterated Russia's position that the date for the next round of talks must be set up as soon as possible.

The United States and its Western allies have accused Iran of secretly developing nuclear weapons under the guise of its civilian nuclear program, a charge Tehran has consistently denied.

Iran insists the Western countries should acknowledge its right to a nuclear development program and remove sanctions. The West, in turn, demands Iran cease its uranium-processing activities.

Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, said during a meeting with Ryabkov in Tehran on Wednesday he hoped the six world powers would resume nuclear talks with the Islamic republic soon. Endi
