Russia has supplied an Indonesian mining company with the multi-purposed Mi-171 helicopter, officials said Tuesday.

Roman Kirillov, a spokesman for Russian Helicopters, said the helicopter was made in Russia's Buryat republic.

The Mi-171 is an advanced version of the Mi-8 class helicopter and can transport up to 37 people. The helicopter, which has a range of about 1,000 kilometers, can also be used for geological exploration, firefighting and patrols.

Russian Helicopters said the Asia-Pacific region has become a major driver of demand for helicopters. Russia has already sold over 1,200 helicopters in the region, both commercial and military, the company said. Endi
