The historic grand concert with multi GRAMMY award-winning singer and songwriter Jason Mraz promoted awareness and increased prevention of human trafficking in Myanmar, according to sources Monday.
MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking) held an open-air anti-human trafficking concert in front of iconic Shwedagon Pagoda here on Sunday's night, attracting over 50,000 audiences.
The concert was organized by MTV in collaboration with U.S. and Australian government aid agencies and the anti-slavery organization Walk Free.
Multi GRAMMY award-winning singer and songwriter Jason Mraz featured the concert together with several Myanmar's top artists as well as with a famous Thailand rock band Slot Machine.
Jason Mraz has two GRAMMY awards and six GRAMMY nominations to his credit. Mraz has been a long time advocating against human trafficking, engaging with anti-trafficking organizations in Ghana and the Philippines.
According to MTV EXIT, there are more than 20 million people living in slavery around the world with more than half living in Asia Pacific Area.
MTV EXIT Live in Myanmar follows the production of two Myanmar MTV EXIT documentaries on human trafficking, which were broadcast in 2010 and 2012 on national television to educate the public about the dangers of trafficking.
