A huge fire at the Mileta textile mill started Saturday morning has caused damage preliminary estimated at 200 million Czech crowns (about 10 million U.S. dollars), local firefighters' spokeswoman Martina Zahourkova said.
The fire, occurred around 6 a.m. local time, has hit part of workshop built in 1970s.
"There were machines, finished products as well as yarn for production inside the hall," Zahourkova said, adding that there has not been any report of injuries.
Vast smoke arising from the fire can still be seen in the whole region, while firefighters held that extinguishing the fire may last a rather long time.
Owned by the Indian firm Alok, Mileta textile mill employs roughly 360 people in the small town with some 8,800 inhabitants. (1 Czech crown = 0.05 U.S. dollars) Endi
