Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe' s cabinet gained about 62 percent of support across the country while 21.8 percent dislike the new lineup, according to a survey released late Thursday.

Abe's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) earned a supporting rate of 34.3 percent and was followed by the Japan Restoration Party with a supporting rate of 13 percent, said the poll conducted nationwide by Japan's Kyodo News through Wednesday and Thursday.

The Democratic Party of Japan, which suffered a fiasco in the Dec. 16 general election and stepped down from ruling position in the lower house, only get a support rate of 8.6 percent.

About 57.7 percent of respondents said they welcome Abe's decision of selecting two female lawmakers in the LDP's executive for the first time in the party's history.

As to the nomination of former Prime Minister Taro Aso who takes the posts of deputy prime minister, financial minister and financial services minister, about 43.8 percent of respondents supported the choice while 47 percent disapproved it.

Abe was elected as Japan's new prime minister Wednesday and immediately formed a "crisis breakthrough" cabinet which he said will mainly focus on reconstructing quake-hit north area and revitalize Japan's stagnant economy. Endite
