Nine people were killed in two separate road accidents in Russia, authorities said Thursday.
Two cars collided on a highway near an Atkar district village in the Saratov Region of southern Russia Thursday afternoon, killing five people and injuring two others, police said.
Meanwhile, four people were killed when the car they were riding in collided with a bus in the northwestern region of Leningrad, police said. There were no injuries among the bus passengers, police said.
Traffic accidents have become a serious problem in Russia where tens of thousand of people die on the roads annually. According to statistics, 30,000 people lose their lives in traffic accidents every year in Russia due to the poor state of highway networks and reckless driving. Endi
