Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Monday congratulated U.S President Barack Obama on his second inauguration at the highest U.S. office.
"On behalf of the Government of Canada, I offer my sincere congratulations to Barack Obama as he is sworn in for a second term as President of the United States of America," Harper said in a statement.
Harper said he had worked with Obama "very closely" over the past four years on "promoting jobs, growth and prosperity and on international peace and security issues," and that he looked forward to strengthening their "productive working relationship."
Obama on Monday took oath for his second term in the public inauguration ceremony at the Capitol grounds, reaffirming America' s founding principles in a call for unity and promising to try and uphold peace in the world. Endi
