The average occupancy rate of Macao's hotels and guesthouses reached 82.9 percent in January, with five-star hotels leading at 84.9 percent, according to figures released by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) Friday.
A total of 832,543 guests checked into local hotels and guest-houses in January, up by 19.1 percent year on year. The average length of guests' stay during the period decreased by 0.13 night to 1. 4 nights, the figures indicated.
At the end of January, the total number of available guest rooms of the hotel sector increased by 16.5 percent year on year to 26,027 rooms, according to the DSEC.
In January 2013, visitor-guests of the hotels and guest-houses accounted for 70.1 percent of the total number of tourists, lower than 59.1 percent in the same period of 2012, the DSEC said. Endi
