The U.S. Navy's nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz will visit South Korea and join the joint naval drills later this week.
The 97,000-ton USS Nimitz plans to make a three-day port visit in Busan which is a southern port city of South Korea from Saturday and would participate the weekend maritime drills, Yonhap News Agency reported.
South Korea and the United States are scheduled to hold maritime drills in the South Korea's southern and eastern coasts in the weekend after launching a five-day joint naval military drill on Monday in the Yellow Sea.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has railed at the joint drills and warned Tuesday that it would "mercilessly avenge" any breach of its territorial sovereignty by South Korea or the United States during their ongoing anti-submarine drills in the Yellow Sea. Enditem
