Mongolia held an international forum Monday on green and sustainable development to mark World Environment Day, which falls on June 5 each year.
In an address to more than 800 representatives from international organizations and foreign countries, President Tsakhia Elbegdorj thanked the United Nations for choosing his country to host the event.
Mongolia had huge potential in green development, due to its rich renewable energy sources, he said.
In recent years, the Mongolian government has developed policies to change its "brown economy" into a "green economy" in the face of severe desertification, deterioration of its grasslands, and indigence of water resources. Endi
