American writer Dan Brown said on Thursday he would like to have Italian director Robert Benigni in next movie adapted from his new novel "Inferno".

"It would be an honor to have Roberto Benigni, a great director, in the next movie," he said at a news conference in the Italian city of Florence,"I've seen his speeches about Dante on Youtube, they were magnificent."

"I haven't talked with Benigni and I hope to do it soon," then he added.

In the novel, expert of symbology, professor Robert Langdon returns and he finds himself in the room of a hospital in Florence, confused and injured, but he is sure about one thing: he must escape, from someone or something.

He is in danger. To find out who is threatening him he have to interpret a series of symbols presented in the "Divine Comedy" of Dante.

Talking about the motives that pushed him to write "Inferno", the author said he wrote this book for the respect that we owe to Dante and to the literary culture created by him.

"My novel", he added, "is a letter of love to the Italian culture."

Before he started writing, the author had spent a long time in Italy, researching, studying and even visiting some scholars.

And after three years of working, his novel came out on May 14 and it has been published in 14 countries, including the United Stated, Britain, Italy and Brazil.

The Chinese version is expected to be published this year. Endi
