A Tunisian rapper will be released later on Tuesday after a Tunis appeals court decided to give him a six-month suspended sentence, official TAP press agency reported.
The 25-year-old rapper, known as Weld El 15, was sentenced to two years in prison last month for writing a song that insulted police.
The case was widely echoed in local and foreign media, and rights groups have repeatedly demanded the singer's release from jail.
The verdict represents "a victory for democracy," the singer's lawyer said. Endi
