The Polish foreign ministry on Friday condemned the anti-Lithuanian slogans at Thursday's Europa League match between Lech Poznan and the Lithuanian club Zalgiris Vilnius.

During the game, a group of Polish fans held a banner with the words "Lithuanian serf kneels before your Polish master."

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius said that this act was chauvinistic and a shameful attempt to sow tension between two countries.

Polish foreign ministry said that they consider the anti-Lithuanian content on the banner scandalous and a pitiful sign of thoughtlessness and ignorance to which the foreign ministry and the Polish government are firmly opposed.

Poznan Provincial Governor Piotr Florek announced that a part of Lech Poznan's stadium may be closed for the public during the club's Sunday division game.

Thursday's match ended with a 2-1 win for Lech but the qualifying side was Zalgiris which had won 1-0 in the first leg. Endi
