FrieslandCampina Member Council approved investment of 245 million euros (326 million U.S. dollars) to expand Borculo and Leeuwarden, said the biggest Dutch dairy cooperative in a statement on Thursday.

According to the statement, the company has approved the construction of a new plant for infant and toddler nutrition and ingredients in Borculo, as well as the replacement and expansion of the processing capacity for evaporated milk products in Leeuwarden.

The plans will cost an investment of 135 million euros in Borculo to build a new plant, and 110 million euros in Leeuwarden to replace and expand its processing capacity. These amounts are in addition to the total of 200 million euros in investments FrieslandCampina committed to in the first half of 2013.

FrieslandCampina said the new project, particular in Leeuwarden, is responding to the growing demand for evaporated milk products in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. (1 euro = 1.33 U.S. dollars) Endi
