Norway's veteran rider Hushovd Thor from Team BMC won the first stage of the Tour of Beijing, taking the red and green jerseys at the same time here on Friday.
The twice best sprinter of Tour de France snatched a narrow win in the final sprint, reaching the finish line in 4 hours 20 minutes and 34 seconds, and got the leader's red jersey and green jersey as the best sprinter.
Mezgec Luka from team Argos-shimano ranked the second, while Maes Nikolas from team Quick-step finished third.
Cordeel Sander of team Lotto-Belisol outclassed the peloton for most of time but failed to keep his position at around 10 kilometers from the finish line. However, he still took the Polka dot jersey. The White Jersey, stands for best young rider, went to Wauters Willem from Vacansoleil-DCM Procycling team.
Jiao Pengda from Champion System Pro Cycling team ranked 29th among 153 riders as the highest-ranking Chinese rider.
This year's Tour of Beijing runs from Oct. 11 to 15, and it is the last event on the International Cycling Union WorldTour calendar.
