Australia beats India to lead seven-match ODI cricket series

Australia beat India by 72 runs in the ODI (One-Day International) cricket series-opening clash in Pune,India, local media reported on Monday.

Australian players dominated the first of seven match-ups between the world's top two ODI nations on Sunday.

After captain George Bailey and powerful opener Aaron Finch blasted contrasting half centuries to send Australia to 8-304, the visitors controlled the Indian innings from the opening delivery at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

The Indian players lost early wickets and were always behind the required run rate before being bowled out for 232.

During the game, Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin had to leave the field as he was accidentally poked in the eye by Australian teammate James Faulkner.

Haddin returned late to complete the game after receiving treatment. Endi
