Xu Gefei, a Chinese publisher based in Paris, was recognized as one of the 16 Women's Forum Rising Talents on Thursday at an international meeting dubbed as Women's Davos in Deauville, northwest France.

The 34-year-old Chinese female was awarded for her commitment to promoting cultural exchanges between different people from various cultural and national backgrounds through publishing comic books.

After founding Les Editions Fei in Paris, the first comics publishing house run by the Chinese in France, in 2008, Xu has dedicated herself to interpreting Chinese culture to foreign readers.

Her first series comic books "Judge Bao," published in 2010, received rave reviews at the Angouleme International Comics Festival, the largest of its kind in Europe. The market-favored comic books made the most popular ancient Chinese judge Bao Zheng, a "half-man-half-mythological-hero," a cult figure to foreign readers.

Xu created a totally new business to introduce Chinese literary works to French audience.

In cooperation with some Chinese painters and with the help of her French colleagues, the Chinese woman has published a number of comic books based on the Chinese stories or historical figures and has become well known by more and more comic fans in France.

"Creativity helps people to transfer one's dream into really," said Xu during an interview with Xinhua on the sideline of the ninth Women's Forum global meeting.

As the newly nominated Rising Talent, the young Chinese woman vowed to continue to fulfill her commitment to making China known to the outside world, as she definitely believes that culture is a bridge that can go beyond boundaries to connect people from different cultural backgrounds.

Xu is the only Chinese among the 16 2013 Rising Talents that are selected from different continents and countries.

They are "exemplary leaders, model citizens," and have demonstrated "particular passion and commitment in their professional and personal lives, thus making them inspiring entrepreneurs for the future in all their respective areas," commended Veronique Morali, president of the Women's Forum for the Economy and Society.

The Rising Talents is an initiative established by the Women's Forum to distinguish highly talented young women under the age of 40 who have shown a remarkable level of commitment and achievement in their respective fields, and are on their way to becoming influential figures and contributing themselves to the increasingly powerful voice of women worldwide.

Since the start of the program, 128 remarkable young women all across the world had been selected to join the Rising Talent community before this year's awards were declared. Endi
