Chicago-based Boeing Co. announced Wednesday that it raked in a profit of 1.2 billion dollars in the third quarter, up 12 percent year on year and beating market expectations.
Revenue of the aerospace giant in the third quarter came to 22. 1 billion dollars, up 11 percent year on year; and its order backlog increased to a record 415 billion dollars, including 27- billion-dollar new orders made in the third quarter.
In a statement released Wednesday, Boeing CEO Jim McNerney attributed the higher profit to "consistently strong operating performance."
