Unemployment rate of the euro area stood at 12.1 percent in October, which was slightly lower than last month's figure but remained at a high level, according to Eurostat.
The Eurostat data also showed that the average jobless rate in the European Union (EU) countries is 10.9 percent, stable compared with September.
In the eurozone and the EU, the unemployment rates had risen compared with the same month last year, when they were 11.7 percent and 10.7 percent respectively, Eurostat showed.
Among the EU member states, the lowest unemployment rates were recorded in Austria, at 4.8 percent, and Germany, at 5.2 percent, and the highest in Greece, at 27.3 percent, and Spain, at 26.7 percent.
In October this year, the unemployment rate for young people (under 25 years old) was 23.7 percent in the EU and 24.4 percent in the euro area, compared with 23.3 percent and 23.7 percent respectively in October 2012.
The lowest youth jobless rates were observed in Germany, at 7.8 percent, and Austria, at 9.4 percent, and the highest in Greece, at 58 percent, Spain, at 57.4 percent, and Croatia, at 52.4 percent, according to Eurostat. Endi
