The eurozone industrial producer prices index (PPI) dropped by 0.5 percent in October, the EU statistics office said Tuesday.

In the 28-nation EU, the same index posted a monthly fall of 0.6 percent in October, according to Eurostat.

On an annual basis, industrial producer prices in October decreased by 1.4 percent and 1.1 percent in the eurozone and in the EU respectively.

The main downward impact on industrial prices can be attributed to the energy sector, whose prices fell by 1.4 percent and 1.6 percent from the previous month in the eurozone and the EU respectively.

In parallel, prices in total industry excluding the energy sector down by 0.1 percent in both the eurozone and the EU.

Among the EU member states for which data were available, the largest decreases in industrial producer prices were registered in Croatia, Italy, Hungary and Denmark, while the largest increases were in Estonia, Cyprus and Sweden. Endi
