BERLIN, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) - German films, films about children and young people as well as China are main points of this year's festival, Berlin Film Festival Director Dieter Kosslick said in Berlin on Tuesday.

"There are two billion children in the world and a large part of them is suffering," said Kosslick to one of the main topic in this year's Berlin Film Festival.

The film festival, taking place from February 6 to 16 at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, will open with the world premiere of the film "The Grand Hotel Budapest" by Wes Anderson in the Berlinale Palast and will present totally 409 films, with 20 films competing for the Golden Bear.

Four German films and three Chinese films will run for the Golden Bear, said Kosslick at the presentation of the program, while calling movies from China as a focus in the competition.

This time, films from China are independent films that are using well-known genres and take place "away from the glamorous cities", he said.

Kosslick also confirmed that U.S. movie star George Clooney will visit this year's festival with his film "The Monuments Men", which will be screened out of competition. Endi
