Australia's New South Wales (NSW) Government is offering tax breaks for businesses that hire workers recently made redundant from companies' mass sackings, local media reported on Tuesday.
Under the new scheme, employers who hire workers that have recently lost their jobs through large restructures will get a 6, 000 AU dollar (5,365 U.S. dollar) payroll tax rebate instead of the 5,000 AU dollars (4,471 U.S. dollars) previously offered by the state government.
New South Wales Premier Barry O'Farrell says the new payroll tax rebate for businesses will give employers an extra incentive to hire people who face restructure.
"This is about trying to do something practical to assist with people being re-employed," he told local media.
He stresses the government is determined to do all it can to support those workers and create new employment opportunities. Endi
