France's job claims stable in March

At the end of March, France reported stable jobless claims as falling number of young jobseekers offset a rise in demands of aged poeple without work, data released by the Labor Ministry showed on Friday.

Last month, 1,600 jobless people entered the domestic job market or more than 3.349 million unemployed people. On yearly basis, the joblessness rate rose by 4.1 percent.

Job demands of youg people fell by 0.8 percent as "the fight against unemployment of people under 25 years, that were the priority of government policy over the past two years ... continues to bear fruit."

However, France registered over the period additional 7,300 job claims of aged jobseekers, according to the official monthly figures.

"Mobilization must continue ... The responsibility and solidarity pact should boost job creation in the private sector," Labor Minister Francois Rebsamen said.

French President Francois Hollande was scheduled to head a large gathering on Monday to discuss ways to implement the Socialists' new device to spur job creation and which is based on lower labor charges to encourage recruitment. Endi
