Myanmar and Indonesia have agreed on visa exemption for ordinary passport holders, state media reported Sunday.
The two countries signed the visa exemption agreement on the sideline of the 24th ASEAN Summit being held in Nay Pyi Taw.
The document was inked by Myanmar Foreign Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin and his Indonesian counterpart Dr. Marty M. Natelegawa.
The visa exemption will take effect within May, local media quoted Presidential Spokesman U Ye Htut as saying.
The visa exemption between Myanmar and Indonesia is seen as part of ASEAN's efforts in introducing a single visa in the region.
Myanmar have signed such visa exemption agreements with Brunei, Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam, and negotiations on the move are underway with Malaysia and Singapore, the report said. Endi
