The conservatives gained nearly 50 percent of the vote in the European Parliament (EP) election in Austria, and the People's Party (OVP) was set to win, the Interior Ministry's provisional statistic showed on Sunday.
OVP, a centre-right party of Austria, which won the 2009 EP election in Austria with 30 percent of support, got 27.3 percent of the vote on Sunday, the first in the vote and is set to again win this year.
Another far right-wing party, the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO), gained 20.5 percent of the vote in the election, together with the OVP, the two major conservatives accounted for nearly 50 percent of the vote in the election.
The centre-left Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPO) stood at 24.2 percent, the second place in the vote.
The Green Alternative gain the forth place in the election with 13.9 percent of support.
Provisional statistic showed the conservatives might win the EU election vote this year.
