The biggest free music festival "Our Big Gig" will be held across England and Scotland from July 11 to 13 , freely welcome audiences and musicians to take part in, the Department for Communities and Local Government announced Friday.

Around 170 free concerts are expected to attract 7,000 musicians and thousands of volunteers, bringing people from all walks of life together to listen and enjoy the various kinds of gigs.

"Live music is a great way of getting people from all different backgrounds and from right across the country involved in their local community and have a weekend of free entertainment into the bargain," said Stephen Williams, minister for communities.

"The Our Big Gig weekend will help turn strangers and neighbors into friends and encourage lots of people to get involved in music, in some cases for the first time," he added.

With the gigs being staged in shopping centers, school, town centers, churches, parks, as well as village greens and pubs, the British government hopes they can bring people together in strong united communities.

The Our Big Gig is organized by non-profit arts organization Superact, with the Department for Communities and Local Government as the main sponsor. Endi
